Privacy Policy

Last updated: 19 April 2026

IFQ (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the IFQ mobile application and the website at ifq.app. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

We wrote this to be readable, not to bury things in legalese. If something isn’t clear, email us at privacy@ifq.app.

What we collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information Apple provides (typically your name and email, or a private relay address if you choose to hide it).

Waitlist

If you join our waitlist before the app launches, we collect your email address. That’s it.

Profile and smoking history

During onboarding, you share information about your nicotine use — things like what you use, how much, your triggers, and your motivation for quitting. This helps Vera (our AI coach) personalise your experience.

Conversations with Vera

Your chats with Vera are stored so she can remember your journey, reference past conversations, and provide better support over time. These conversations are private to your account.

Progress data

We track your quit attempts, milestones, and slip events. This powers the progress features in the app and helps Vera understand where you are in your journey.

Payment information

Subscriptions are processed through Apple’s App Store. We do not directly collect or store your payment card details.

How we use your data

  • Delivering the service: Powering Vera’s coaching, tracking your progress, managing your account.
  • Improving the experience: Understanding how people use IFQ so we can make it better. This is aggregate and anonymised — we’re looking at patterns, not reading your chats.
  • Communication: Sending you important updates about your account or the service. We’ll never spam you.

What we don’t do

Let’s be direct:

  • We don’t sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else. Ever.
  • We don’t run ads. Your data isn’t used for ad targeting.
  • We don’t share your conversations. Your chats with Vera are yours. We don’t share them with third parties, employers, insurers, or anyone else.

Third-party services

We use a small number of trusted services to run IFQ:

  • Supabase — Database hosting and authentication. Your data is stored in Supabase’s infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit.
  • Apple — Sign In with Apple for authentication and App Store for subscription management.
  • AI provider — We use a large language model provider to power Vera. Your conversations are sent to this provider to generate responses. We select providers with strong data handling practices and do not permit them to train on your data.

Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Supabase’s cloud infrastructure. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We use row-level security (RLS) to ensure you can only access your own data. Authentication tokens are managed securely with automatic refresh.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won’t pretend otherwise. But we take reasonable and appropriate measures to protect your information, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Data retention and deletion

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account. If you want your data deleted, you can request it by emailing privacy@ifq.app. We’ll delete your account and all associated data within 30 days of a verified request.

Waitlist emails are retained until the waitlist is no longer needed or you ask to be removed.

Children

IFQ is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

Your rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and applicable privacy laws, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe your privacy has been breached

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@ifq.app.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we’ll notify you through the app or by email. We won’t quietly change the rules on you.
